Sometimes when a door closes, you just need to build your own house so you can open your own door.
Blessed Marie Rose Durocher felt that she was called to the life of a nun, but her health was poor so she was turned away. Her brother Theophile was a priest in Canada, and she became his housekeeper. The whole country was one big diocese at the time, and the bishop was having a hard time getting religious leaders to emigrate from Europe. Marie Rose stepped up to found her own order of nuns, the Sisters of the Holy Name of Jesus and Mary.
Although she died on her thirty-eighth birthday, her accomplishment stands as a testament to both piety and initiative.
